Archibald W.
Moses Enlisted in company
K. May 3, 1862 at Salem, Va. He was a resident of Montgomery Co.
He is buried in the Jennelle Cemetery . It is located on RT 643 near
Yellow Sulphur Springs, Va. He was a farmer about 26 years old
when he enlisted. Archy was captured June 19, 1864 on Lost
Mountain, Ga. and sent via Nashville to Camp Morton in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Released on oath on 6/22/65 dark complextion, black
hair and eyes, 5'7 3/4" Died at Cambria, Va. on 7/30/1922.
My
husband's grandfather used to tell the story of Archy having walked
all the way home at the end of the war. When he described Archy
arriving in his little community about day break and seeing the
smoke coming up out of the chimney and thinking that it was the
happiest day of his life....I would get tears. Apparently Archy
himself would get tears in his eyes even to the end of his life any
time the events in the Civil war were mentioned. I would like to
thank Marsha Moses for the
information about Archibald W. Moses .
