Born May 22, 1831 in Floyd Co., Va. Married Mary Etta Griggs on Sept. 22, 1853 Enlisted on April 7, 1862 in Richmond - Co. D, 54th Va. Inf. Captured at Red Hill, Alabama on Jan. 1, 1865 Died of pneumonia in hospital at Camp Chase, Ohio on March 3, 1865. Buried at Camp Chase - number of grave 1526. Survivied by 3 sons and wife at his death.
