John Helms Douthat

John Helms Douthat of Pulaski, VA. He was a 2nd Lt., Co. F and was present at all musters.
He enlisted at Newbern, 09 September 1861. He was 45 years when he enlisted.
He had three nephews who were in Co. B. He also had a son who joined the union army and was a 1st Lt.,Co. C, 12th Regiment Cavalry, Tennessee Volunteers, USA.
After the war he went back to Pulaski and returned to his business of shoe and boot making.
He died 02 October 1891 and is buried in Pulaski.
