Samuel Branch Miles was in the 54th. Virginia Infantry Co. C. He enlisted on 9/10/1861 in Christiansburg Va.. He was detailed as a wagoner on 1/1/1862. He was a resident of Mont. Co. Va. born in 1827 in Prince Edward Co. Va., the son of James Miles and Sarah Owens Burks. He was married to Mary Wirt, Martha Williams, and Sarah A.M.L. Hall. He had 16 children with all three wives. After the war he returned to Montgomery Co. Va. and lived until January 1909
